Is your Linzess medication too expensive?
The average retail price for Linzess costs over $500 for a one-month supply (30 capsules), even with a Linzess coupon. The price you pay will vary depending on your insurance coverage and the pharmacy you visit.
Linzess coupons may also be available to many patients. However, even with a Linzess coupon, you may still be paying too much.
Patients can get their Linzess medication for $60.00 per month through Prescription Hope’s medication access service. Although Prescription Hope is not a Linzess coupon, individuals looking for a Linzess coupon can save more money through Prescription Hope!

Here’s the Linzess cost comparison chart for 30 capsules or a one-month supply.
The four options you have to save money on Linzess
There are four main ways to save money on out-of-pocket costs when it comes to prescription medication.
- Join a healthcare plan with prescription drug coverage (Please make sure the medication you are taking is in the insurance formulary.)
- Prescription drug discount cards
- Coupon cards that are directly for the pharmaceutical manufacturer
- Patient assistance programs, which are also directly from the pharmaceutical manufacturer
Now that we have given you the four main medication savings programs, there are a few hurdles to go over in each of those areas. We will be quick about this…
When you join a health insurance program, you will have high deductibles, copays, and things of that nature.
When you have prescription drug discount cards, the discounts are uneven all across the board.
Coupons sponsored directly from the pharmaceutical manufacturer specifically for brand-name medications are excellent in the short run. For the long term, there is a lot of money still left out of your pocket…
Last are the pharmaceutical manufacturer’s patient assistance programs that give away medication at a reduced cost to individuals who qualify, which provides unmatched medication savings for the long term.
The downside to patient assistance programs is that the first shipment of medication takes, on average, 2 to 4 weeks to reach the patient. Also, managing medication orders and refills can be a daunting task, especially with the shipping times.
Do I qualify for Linzess patient assistance programs?
Qualifying for Linzess patient assistance programs is based on household income guidelines. Every patient assistance program uses different criteria for qualification, so we use the information below as general guidelines:
- An individual earning up to $50,000 a year may qualify
- Households of 2 individuals with a combined income up to $70,000 a year may qualify
- Guidelines can increase in families making up to $200,000 per year
Prescription Hope suggests that anyone looking to save money on Linzess submit an enrollment form.
Suppose you do not qualify to receive medication through patient assistance programs. In that case, we will never charge a service fee for that medication.
Soon after submitting an enrollment form, we will determine whether you qualify to receive the medications you have requested for through patient assistance programs.
Suppose we find a program that will work for you. In that case, we will reach out to you for any additional information needed and reach out to your healthcare provider for the prescription.
Once we receive this information back, we immediately order your medication for you. After that, Prescription Hope works to manage medication orders, refill medications on time throughout the year, maintain up-to-date records, and renew your prescription medication’s enrollment every year.
Once your enrollment form is submitted and you are pre-qualified, the first shipment of prescription medication typically arrives within 2 to 4 weeks. We will then place refills ahead of time so that you receive your medication on a regular schedule.
During the four to six week enrollment period, we recommend that you ask your healthcare provider if they could provide you with Linzess samples while waiting for your first shipment.
Through our program, Americans save thousands every year from the retail cost of their prescription medications through Prescription Hope. To learn more about how Prescription Hope works you can visit our website.

What is Linzess (linaclotide)?
Linzess (linaclotide) is a prescription drug that belongs to a class of drugs known as IBS Agents (guanylate cyclase-C agonists). It is prescribed to adults for purpose of treating irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC).
This medication is a once-daily pill for adults that have not found relief from over-the-counter medicines, dietary changes, or exercise. It helps you increase and complete bowel movements, providing relief from abdominal pain and symptoms.
Symptoms associated with IBS-C include:
- Pain
- Discomfort
- Bloating
Linzess (linaclotide) is not a laxative and functions locally in the intestine. It works by calming pain-sensing nerves and accelerating bowel movements.
If you take this medication daily, exactly as your healthcare provider has prescribed it to you, then constipation relief is typically felt within about one week. IBS-C patients should start to feel relief from their symptoms after one week and a gradual improvement over 12 weeks.
Important safety information
Avoid administration of Linzess in patients 6 years to less than 18 years of age. The FDA has not approved Linzess for use by anyone younger than 18 years of age.
Linzess should not be administered to a child younger than 6 years of age, as it can cause severe diarrhea and dehydration, which can be fatal in children.
Do not take Linzess if you are allergic to linaclotide or any of its ingredients or have a bowel blockage in your intestines.

Linzess comes in the form of a capsule in three dosage forms as follows:
- 72 mcg

The recommended dosage of Linzess for adults:

- Take one teaspoonful of room-temperature applesauce and place it in a clean container.
- Open the capsule and sprinkle all of the contents on the applesauce.
- Consume the entire contents right away. Do not chew the contents, and do not store the mixture for later.
Administration with Water:
- Pour one ounce of room-temperature bottled water into a cup.
- Open and sprinkle all of the contents into the water.

- Swallow the mixture right away.
- Add an ounce of water to any contents remaining in the cup, swirl for 20 seconds, and then swallow.

If you miss a dose of Linzess, then skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Never take two doses at once.
Warning and precautions
Risk of severe dehydration in pediatric patients:
In a study done on neonatal mice, linaclotide increased the secretion of fluid, leading to an increased risk of death due to dehydration. Therefore, patients under 6 years of age may be more likely to experience severe dehydration from fluid secretion than those between 6 and 18.
There are no sufficient studies available to determine the safety and effectiveness of Linzess for patients under 18 years of age. Therefore, avoid giving Linzess to pediatric patients.
Diarrhea:
Diarrhea was the most common adverse reaction, according to the clinical trials conducted. Some patients have reported severe diarrhea accompanied by dizziness and electrolyte deficiencies, requiring hospitalization.
If you begin to have severe diarrhea, stop taking Linzess, call your healthcare provider, and take steps to rehydrate.
Side effects of Linzess
The most common side effects of Linzess may include:
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Gas
- Bloating
- Headache
Stop taking Linzess and call your healthcare provider right away if you have severe side effects, including persistent diarrhea or diarrhea with dizziness or lightheadedness.
Before taking Linzess
Before taking Linzess, talk to your healthcare provider:
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in linaclotide or if you have any other allergies.
- About your medical history, especially if you have had a stomach or intestinal blockage.
- If you are pregnant or may become pregnant. Linzess should only be used during pregnancy if it is clearly needed.
- If you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is unknown if linaclotide will pass through breast milk and have an effect on a nursing child.
Storage
Linzess should be stored in its original container at room temperature, away from heat, light, and moisture.
Properly dispose of any medication that is expired or no longer needed. Ask your healthcare provider about how to dispose of any prescription medication correctly.
Be sure to store your Linzess medication out of reach of children.
Linzess is characterized as being white to off-white opaque hard gelatin capsules with a gray imprint. If the capsules look discolored or malformed, do not take them and consult your pharmacist or healthcare provider.
What drugs can affect Linzess
Drug interactions can affect the way Linzess works or may increase your risk of adverse reactions. Talk to your healthcare provider about any other medicines you are taking, including other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements.
Do not start or stop taking any of your prescription medications without first talking to your healthcare provider.
Tips for taking Linzess
Specific lifestyle changes can help Linzess work while reducing triggers of IBS symptoms.
- Make dietary changes, such as adding high-fiber foods to your diet. For example, fruits, vegetables, beans, and bran flakes can help soften your stools. Consuming large meals, fried foods, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks can make your symptoms worse.
- Try increasing fluid intake by drinking about 6-8 cups of water every day.
- Increasing the amount you exercise can help provide relief from some symptoms.
- Reducing stress can also have a positive impact and prevent triggering IBS symptoms.
